Worship The Goddesses http://www.worshipthegoddesses.com because you can Sat, 07 Jan 2012 23:06:52 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3 Can’t we all just get along? http://www.worshipthegoddesses.com/2010/12/cant-we-all-just-get-along/ http://www.worshipthegoddesses.com/2010/12/cant-we-all-just-get-along/#comments Sun, 05 Dec 2010 18:33:47 +0000 Morrigan http://worshipthegoddesses.com/?p=137 I recently watched a Youtube video where I was affected so deeply, I wept.  A young person spoke about the need of human beings to be validated.  Not only does this 21 year old have a beautiful outlook on life, but perhaps a way to communicate that allows for us all to ‘just get along’!   How often have you been in a discussion where the topic becomes impassable?  Your fellow discussionees are no longer listening to you and you’re tired of hearing what point they keep hammering.  “Don’t these people shut up long enough to hear anything other than their own voice?”  “Are they so brilliant, that no one else could ever possibly have the slightest bit of wisdom that is worthy of consideration?”

Well, isn’t that exactly the problem….  you’re thinking the same thing that they are!  The conversation is trapped in a viscious loop of everyone thinking “that person is so selfish!”, and honestly, isn’t that the most selfish thing we could ever say?!   How about trying, “That person must not feel like they’re being heard”  or “That person, and their belief system, are being discounted through my actions”. 

What would this new behavior do for a stifled conversation? A broken relationship?  An underperforming work group?     I get exhilarated just thinking about it!!

Ok, I agree, it may not help anything the first time we try it. Or maybe even the second.  But, if we start, and don’t give up easily, we’ll plant the seeds of civility and empathy.  Who knows, maybe the behavior will catch on!  Think about it, how do most people behave the moment they’ve been validated?   With inner peace and outer openness.  Sounds like the foundation of progressive communication to me.

In Praise of Women

Women. The most beautiful creatures on this marvelous globe. We’re lucky they put up with us men sometimes, what with all the crap we put them through. We tell them they’re fat, too short, too emotional….too beautiful for the likes of us. They deserve all the worship we can bestow on them for one reason alone, and that my friends is that they are absolutely divine !
They walk into our drab, boring lives and inject them with a vitality and grace we can only aspire to. They act silly, laugh at our embarrassments, and push the envelope of what’s socially acceptable. Whether dressed in lace or coveralls, they have a power over us that we can’t explain. It’s as if they are on the inside track of secret knowledge and we’re trailing several lengths behind.
A woman doesn’t have to try to look beautiful; they already are. In the early light of dawn they lie under the covers of their bed, hunkered down in sleep, their faces radiant as only a woman can be. Waking, they stretch like cats, long and languid movements a study in elegance; grace.
There is nothing like having a woman lean into you as you watch a movie or embrace. You sink into the powdered and perfumed softness and are reborn into something better than you were mere moments before. Born with eyes that can wither your soul or heal the most hardened heart, they are the perfect life-form sent from the stars to shine their glorious light upon our lives. Give them anything they want, for they deserve only the best we can give and no less.
In the act of making love, the face of our goddess transforms into something so beautiful and magnificent it’s a wonder that gazing upon it doesn’t blind us. We nuzzle the base of her neck, the fragrance rich and heady as if she were composed of flowers. We men, we mere mortals are blessed to have them in our lives and our beds. They have wild hearts that can’t be tamed, nor would it be wise to try.
More intoxicating than any drug, sweeter than nectar, we flock to them as bees to honey. How like angels they are, but far more challenging and interesting. To converse with a woman, to be her friend, is a privilege and honor beyond price. How incredibly frail they seem, yet are stronger than you know. Their heart contain as many secrets as the ocean, and are as deep. Radiant creatures, shaped by the Goddess’s hands they manifest divinity in our paltry corporeal existence. I am proud to worship at their altar, a humble acolyte asking for a boon.

1) Those who have my back at all times and unconditionally.

2) Those who have my back when I ask for their assistance.

3) Those who have my back when they get something out of it.

4) Those who will never have my back, at any time, for any reason.

To those who fall under category 1) You are a gift! I know my life has been profoundly blessed because you exist in it.  I know not why I am worthy of such gifts, but adore you and thank God for you every day.  Thinking of an old Irish blessing, it is certain that you will be in heaven long before the devil knows you’re dead!

Category 2) I appreciate you more than you know.  Life is busy, life is distracting, but to know you’re my friend always and by my side when needed is a comfort that gets me through the hard times.  Thank you for choosing to be there for me.  May you always walk in sunshine, may you never want for more, may Irish angels rest their wings right beside your door.

Category 3) It is nice to know you are out there. Life is also about priorities, so if yours and mine happen to match up when needed, I’m all in favor of being siblings in arms!  May good luck be your friend in whatever you do, and trouble always be a stranger to you.    Please note: reciprocation is not automatic, unless once again, our priorities match up.  If it were automatic, we’d be in category 2.

Category 4) I respect you as another mortal sharing my same planet. May you find love and live a long, happy, healthy life.  An Irish blessing for you; May those who love us, love us; and for those who don’t love us, may God turn their hearts.  If he doesn’t turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we’ll know them by their limping!

Can ‘simple’ ever have a higher meaning? Of course it can. In my sitiuation today, simple was not just a single minded scenario, but the end result of a long thought out process of many angles coming together to form a large complex picture!  My simple-seeming task, helps keep the large picture together!  I can now respect my task for what it is, but I will never stop asking the question ‘why’.    Without it, we become slaves to tradition without passion, or function without purpose.  ……and tell me friends, who the hell is interested in living like that!!!   Morrigan
